Meet Our Trustees

Andrew joined the Harbour Place Board in early 2017 and took up the role of Chair a year later.

After a career in finance and as co-owner of a large logistics business, Andrew now gives his time to Harbour Place and other charitable and community initiatives.

Andrew takes a hands-on approach to his role at Harbour Place, working closely with our Project Director, bringing his experience to areas such as strategic planning, financial management, legal and compliance, whilst also overseeing fundraising, media and promotional strategies.

Jo moved to Grimsby with her husband in 1990 and has worked in and around Grimsby for many years, firstly at Grimsby Borough Council in the Housing Department as its Architect where she developed her knowledge of the Town and its people. Her experience extends from community projects to private dwellings and many town centre developments.

Alongside her husband she went on to found Hodson Architects and is also a partner at Mother Architects in Caistor. Over the years Jo has taught Architecture at many of the northern universities including a 4 year stint as external examiner at Sheffield University.

Jo has worked on a number of charitable boards Including the Grimsby Women’s Aid and was invited to become a trustee at Harbour Place in June 2019.

Sheldon is an Accountant at North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust and a Labour Councillor on NELC representing South Ward.

He is the Deputy Leader of the Labour Group on the Council, and Chair of the Transport Infrastructure and Housing Scrutiny Panel and member of the Licensing and Community Protection Committee.

Sheldon has been a Trustee at Harbour Place since September 2023, and Financial Officer since that time.

Alan, a proud Grimbarian, now retired, has had a varied career including being a motor mechanic, a factory worker, support worker to children with special needs and to young people in supportive housing.  He also has over 30 years’ experience in a variety of community roles in his hometown including 12 years as an elected member of his local authority.

Alan grew up in the East Marsh area of Grimsby and now volunteers with a number of local charities in that area, using that experience to give back as he sees it to the community that supported him growing up.  Alan has been a leading member of the organising team of the Great Grimsby Sleep Out since its inception and has taken part in 10 24-hour sleep out fundraising events.

Alan is Harbour Place’s longest-serving Trustee, joining them in 2007.

Ben is from London and has been living in Grimsby for over 12 years.  He has 35 years’ experience of supporting people in various settings including youth work, young offenders, community safety, homelessness and learning disabilities.

Ben has worked for the last 8 years as a healthcare chaplain at St Andrew’s Hospice.  He has been the Vice President of the Association of Hospice and Palliative Care Chaplains and sat on their executive committee for many years.

Ben is also currently Chair of the North East Lincolnshire Inter-Belief Forum and North East Lincolnshire Independent Advisory Group for Humberside Police.  He is also a Director of East Marsh United CBS and involved with LOGIC, a community organising group of institutions in North East Lincolnshire.

Ben has been a Trustee of Harbour Place since October 2022.

David is the Conservative Councillor for Wolds Ward on NELC and is a former Mayor of North East Lincolnshire.  He has also been a Parish Councillor and a Parish Council Chair.

David also worked for 35 years as a salesman for the Read Motor Group.

David says:  “Harbour Place was one of the charities supported during my time as Mayor of North East Lincolnshire in 2022. I saw first hand the amazing work done by such dedicated staff and Trustees in helping those sleeping out in all weathers in our area and wanted to be of help. A position arose to become a Director and I joined. It is very satisfying to see and be involved in the future of this amazing charity.”

David has been a Trustee of Harbour Place since January 2023.

Matt is a Senior Development Manager at Network Rail.  He has worked as a Project Manager in the railway industry since the age of 16.

Matt is a keen runner, who got involved with Harbour Place by fundraising through his running.

Matt is also a Scout Leader in Grimsby, a role he has performed since 2013.

Matt has been a Trustee since January 2024

Trevor is a retired Turnaround and Project Leader who spent more than 30 years with the US multi-national energy company Phillips 66, organising multiple unit outages and projects, with focus on safety, controlling costs and delivery targets.

Trevor has been a local Parish Councillor for 25 years and was elected as the  Conservative Immingham Ward Councillor on NELC in 2023.  He is currently the acting Chief Whip for the Conservative Party and Vice-Chair of the Transport, Infrastructure and Housing Scrutiny Panel.

Trevor has been a Trustee at Harbour Place since January 2024.

Stuart grew up on the Willows Estate and attended Whitgift School.

He was a solicitor for 17 years in London and in Leeds, where he was a Partner and Head of Litigation at Pinsent Masons.  He left practice in 2008 to become a commercial mediator.  He is one of nine members of the mediation chambers Independent Mediators.

Stuart has been a Trustee of Harbour Place since January 2024.
